Want to make a difference on issues like poverty, health, and economic opportunity? Our New Advocate Training & Action Program will give you the tools, confidence, and community to start advocating for change. 

What to Expect

You will move through a supportive training and action pathway designed to help you build confidence and skills as an advocate. Throughout this process, you will:

• Attend one live orientation (1 hour)
• Complete three short skill trainings you can complete on your schedule
• Take real advocacy actions like contacting Congress and writing media
• Connect with a community of advocates working for change

Your Training & Action Path

Step 1: Attend a New Advocate Orientation (1 hour)

Start with a live, one-hour orientation where you’ll learn:

• Who RESULTS is and what we advocate for
• How everyday people influence policy
• How you can take your first advocacy action

You’ll also receive our New Advocate Action Plan and Starter Pack to guide you through the basics.

Step 2: Build Your Advocacy Skills (Self-Paced)

After orientation, you’ll complete a 3-week Skill Builder series designed to help you take meaningful action as a RESULTS advocate. Each training includes a short recording, resources, and one simple action to practice your skills.

Learn one core skill each week:

• Write Powerfully in the Media -- Learn how to write letters to the editor and use your voice publicly.
• Build Relationships with Congress -- Learn how to communicate effectively with congressional offices.
• Build Power in Your Community -- Learn how to invite others into action and build power together.

Step 3: Join the RESULTS Community

After completing the training series, you’ll be introduced to a local RESULTS group where you can continue advocating alongside others in your community.
